Most online shade finders ask you to describe your own skin — “fair with pink undertones” — or match you from a single brand's chart. But self-description is unreliable, and a “neutral medium” in one brand is a different colour in the next.

MIRU takes a different approach: measure first, then match. The scan checks your capture environment for uneven light and shadows before it trusts a result, and if the scan isn't reliable, MIRU tells you to retake it rather than guess.

Real shade matching isn't a single bullseye. MIRU shows your primary match first, and where a neighbouring shade — a touch lighter or deeper — may suit you better, it says so with the reason. Concealer is matched with its own intent, slightly brighter than your foundation, the way a makeup artist would choose it.

Matching from a photo is guidance, not a guarantee. Camera hardware, lighting and how a formula oxidises on your skin all play a part. MIRU's goal is to narrow the field to a short, sensible shortlist — and to be upfront when a scan isn't good enough to trust.
